We have developped several PC solutions based on BIOS Extensions. These solutions make use of ROM Scan process during which PC BIOS finds its extensions and installs them into the system. All necessary steps are done during system startup and are independent on operating system. BIOS Extensions may be located in EPROM or FLASH memories on additional adapters or on PC mainboard. The following solutions based on BIOS extensions were available:
- PC Security System Password manager of JokerSoft consortium. This solution was developped in the years 1988 - 1993 for old PC AT computers without password protection. Up to 30 users with individual passwords and floppy disk access rights were available. Write protect on system disk C: was also possible. The security system was dedicated for MS DOS, MS Windows 95 and MS Windows 98 operating systems. The solution made use of simple ISA adapter containing EPROM with Password Manager BIOS Extension.
- Year 2000 BIOS Bug Fix solution solved Y2K problem on old PC mainboards with BIOS which was not Y2K ready. Several versions of Y2K solution for different BIOS revisions were available. Our Y2K solution was delivered to the customer either in EPROM usable in network adapter instead of BOOT ROM or as part of ISA adapter.
- CC820 SCSI BOOT BIOS extension solved the incompatibility problem of Intel CC820 board system BIOS and BIOS extensions on some SCSI adapters.
